Don't expect Janhvi Kapoor to be anything like her mother Sridevi

A lot of us are hoping to see the glint of late Sridevi in her first born. The spunk, the oomph and yes, the overall impact that Sridevi created on screen, hope Janhvi Kapoor comes even slightly close to that. Although her debut film Dhadak is yet to release, movie fans have already started drawing comparisons. While a few feel that Janhvi is like a breath of fresh air, others are disappointed by her not-so-Sri like personality.

To the latter, we only say, it's unfair to pitch the newbie against her legendary mother, just because she was born to her. Sri's journey was altogether different. She was like a diamond that emerges under pressure and time. She started off early as a child artiste. She did not come from a film family. She had no one to guide. Just her mother and sister by her side, she waded through the complex maze of the glamour world all by herself. She was totally self-made.

But the same cannot be said about Janhvi. She already had her foot in the door. Owing to her parents' (Boney Kapoor and Sridevi) goodwill, it's Dharma Productions that is flagging off her career. Moreover, while Sridevi had to make a name for herself, Janhvi already has a legacy to back her.

Despite this, ever since her debut photoshoot with Vogue has gone viral, the tongues have started wagging. They can't help but stack her up against her mother. According to them, there is no dearth of star power in Janhvi, yet Sri's charm is missing.

Agreed. But are they not two different individuals? Do they not have a unique journey? Will it not be wise to look at them from different perspectives?

Let's not mar the excitement by comparing the two.

Instead, welcome Janhvi Kapoor as a star of this new generation. The generation of airport looks, the generation of social media, the generation of online movie library...! I am sure she will click with this generation big time.
