Mehrunissa Aditi Rao Hydari is another reason to watch Padmavaat

Padmavaat is no longer just a Bollywood romcom, it is now a journey, a historical journey that began with the name Queen Padmaavati, then battled with justification of the movie name, faced protests from Rajput caste organization, Karni Sena and then finally got released after a month with the name Padmavaat and with the Ghoomar song Deepika Padukone’s midrib being all covered using CGI. Sanjay Leela Bhansali sure had recreated a historical film not only with his character portrayals in the movie but also with the kind of protests, agitation, fear that the country has seen in this recent past.

Talking about the film, nothing is left to be talked about but what Swara Bhaskar wrote to an open letter to the director and summarizing the movie to just vagina is not definitely what Padmavaat is. Reaching into the 100 crore club despite of all the historical struggle is only possible because of each and every character in the movie.

Deepika as Queen Padmavati, managed to look like a painting with her royal ensemble and Rajputana jewellery, but had little scopes in the movie. Shahid Kapoor, as Rajput King Ratan Singh justified his part as written and directed by Bhansali. Ranveer Singh as Alauddin Khilji totally blew everyone with his fierce, savage and outrageous war tactics and kohl eyed look.

However what came as a big surprise was the royal origin actress, Aditi Rao Hydari as Khilji’s wife, Malika-i-jahan (Mehrunissa). While Alauddin had been battling through his entire life for the glimpse of Rani Padmavati, Mehrunissa battled for her love towards Khilji as a rebellious begum by helping Rajput queen to elope with her imprisoned king to Mewar through a secret gateway. With a little screen presence, she proved that Mehrunissa was no less than Padmavati who is as gorgeous and in love with her savage husband. She had done a perfect justice to her character and none of the other two actors could stand up to the viciousness of Khalji in the movie unlike her.

While Alauddin himself could not resist himself falling for the gorgeous Mehrunissa in the beginning of the movie, and getting married to her, you would surely realize that the gorgeous Hydari is definitely one big reason why you should watch the movie.
