Meet the villian of Sonam Kapoor's mehendi ceremony!

 

Sonam Kapoor fans are differently excited about her wedding. Unlike other weddings in the B-town, here who’s who of Bollywood is showing up is not stirring much excitement. Instead, the interest is building up more on what she is wearing and how she is looking in each function. Her fans seem to have high hopes on this count.  

Till now, it is not a very happy picture. The pics from the mehendi ceremony has been doing the rounds but has got a lukewarm reception. Much to Sonam’s dismay, her mehendi look did not seem to have enthralled her fans much. For the mehendi ceremony, the pretty bride-to-be was dressed in a pink and lavender sharara suit. It was a dream dress for any woman who appreciates traditional designs. Replete with gold work, it beautifully embraced her chandbalis in the whole ensemble. On one occasion, she also replaced the statement pair with understated danglers. That too was a design marvel. Truly, made for a fairy-tale wedding.

But when everything was so picture perfect, what went wrong? There came a villain in this fairy-tale. The unpinned dupatta. It marred the whole look. The efforts put in to design the top of the sharara went down the drain. It was hardly visible. That apart, duppatta over it looked messy at one point. Considering the practicality of the rituals of the mehendi ceremony, when you are constantly busy guarding your mehendi, ditching the dupatta makes sense. Sadly, in spite of having all her favourite As (Abu-Jani Sandeep Khosla, Anamika Khanna and Anuradha Vakil) by her side, Sonam could not create magic in her mehendi day look.   

For someone who is a self-proclaimed fashion icon and whose only claim to fame is gorgeous fashion outings, this was a indeed blasphemy. As a result, although there are enough scoops on social media for her fans to get talking, there is no gush-fest over her appearance as in the case of any other celeb. Especially in the day and age when a celebrity wedding becomes national news, the lack of keenness on her wedding is a big question on her star status too. Agreed Anand Ahuja is no celeb and it is Sonam alone who has to pull the traffic but even if an actor’s big day doesn’t turn the spotlight on her, despite hailing from a legendary film family, is food for thought. 

It’s time she reinvents herself, does some meaningful cinema and then, rightfully claims her stardom. Unlike now, when she is still living off her family name. Hope in the main event, the actual wedding day, she makes up for this bad day.
