Sushmita Sen’s royal look will make you wonder why she quit films

Even though her debut film Dastak did not do well, Sushmita Sen was touted as one of the most promising newcomers of her time. But as luck would have it, she could not capitalise on her international fame post winning the Miss Universe title in Bollywood and soon slipped into second fiddle roles and item numbers. At present, her focus has shifted from films to entrepreneurship and mentoring future Mr Universes and as a result, 2015 onwards her filmography has nothing substantial to show. Plus, she is also keeping away from media glare. The last time she hit the headlines was when her ‘Shape Of You’ dance video with her daughter had gone viral. 

Although now she is away from the arc lights, her social media is abuzz with meaty updates. Recently I stumble upon her stunning pictures from the Ravishing Wedding Awards ceremony held in Rajasthan and believe me, she is looking nothing less than royalty. Clad in an embellished Anarkali gown, the ex-Miss Universe was bejewelled in a regal Kundan set. Each jewel, whether you talk about the choker, the ranihaar, the bangles set or the ring, was a masterpiece in its own right. The whole ensemble was the manifestation of supreme imagination and excellent craftsmanship that elevated the look of the actress several notches.

Coming back to Sushmita Sen - awestruck by her enchanting beauty, I only wonder why did she trade in her film career for an entrepreneurship. She could have easily done films for another decade or two. Aren’t her contemporaries Aishwarya Rai and Rani Mukherjee still active in films? Anyway. Her life, her choice. We can only hope to see her make a comeback. FYI, she is expected to be seen in Prahlad Kakkar’s film Happy Anniversary, alongside Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan and Amitabh Bachchan. Sadly yet again as a sidey.
