It’s Deepika Padukone’s birthday today. Our beloved Mastani is now all of 32. At the peak of her career, ‘just friends’ with Ranveer Singh and awards pouring in, Deepika is currently in a happy space. She is living a dream life that most actresses can only aspire for. She is the leading lady of the Bollywood, hobnobbing with international film stars and has some of the finest films to her credit too. Let’s face it. Bollywood is a male dominated industry. But when it comes to Deepika Padukone, her roles are equally important if not the story revolves around her. Right from Om Shanti Om and Piku to Deewani Mastani and now upcoming, Padmavati, she has starred in some of the noted women-centric films.

Starting out as a Kingfisher Calendar girl, she debuted in films with the Farah Khan film opposite Shah Rukh Khan and later on, moved on to do Yashraj Films’ Bachna Ae Haseeno alongside Ranbir Kapoor. This was also the time when she was romantically involved with Ranbir. Post their break up, she moved on to do films like Desi Boyz, Housefull, Love Aaj Kal… She did not mind reuniting with her ex Ranbir for an Ayan Mukherji film Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani. On and off, she was also linked up with absconder Vijay Mallya’s son Siddharth Mallya, as she would be often seen in stands supporting Royal Challengers Bangalore during the Indian Premier League matches.

With Chennai Express and Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela, she became the toast of the town. Her Midas touch was a running joke in the industry. Around this time, she also openly spoke about how she was struggling with depression post break. Soon Happy New Year, Piku and Deewani Mastani took her career graph to an all-new height. She also had a successful stint in Hollywood with XXX: Return of Xander Cage. Even when it comes to endorsements, appearances and item numbers, she has always been on top of her game. Considering her body of work, it would not be wrong to say that Deepika Padukone is a legend in the making.   

Especially, the year gone by has been an eventful for her. While she was awaiting the release of one of the most anticipated Sanjay Leela Bhansali film, protests played spoilsport. The film is now slated to release this month and with that, we know Deepika is all set for another round of success.
