It's time to watch Deepika Padukone's Ghoomar on 70mm
Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh looked happy when they
walked hand in hand for the premiere of Padmavat. Finally, the film will see the light of
day on 25 January, 2018. Just one day to go and the most controversial…the most talked about…and
yes, the most awaited film of the year will hit the theatres. Sadly, the film will
not be released in some parts of the country but we are sure, wherever it will open,
it will keep the registers ringing.
Brimming with confidence, the lead cast of the film Deepika,
Ranveer and Shahid Kapoor were all smiles for the media when they had arrived for
the premiere. They knew they have a masterpiece to present - it’s not just a
period drama that is about to unfold but the grandeur of an era that each one sitting in
that cinema hall will relive today and that’s what it turned out to be.
Walking out of the venue, each film critic, even those who
pan down films worth crores at the drop of a hat, were all praises for
Padmavat. They were speechless. They did not know from where to begin. Whether to
talk about the brilliant performances by each actor in the film or to sing
peans for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s extraordinary imagination – from sets, costumes
to plot. Spectacular is the word.
Especially Deepika’s look, rounded off with traditional
attire and royal jewellery, can be touted as his best work so far. She looked like a dream in
every scene. Even her unibrow beautifully complemented her Rajputana look.
The number of downloads that Ghoomar song boasts of is testimony to the fact
how much her Padmavati look is loved by her fans. Even at the time of filing
this article, the number of downloads is on the rise.
Going by the rave reviews, Padmavat has got all the
trappings of a highest opener/ grosser of the year by today’s standard but
unfortunately, thanks to fringe element’s relentless row against its release,
that is a farfetched dream now. But remember, when a film of this calibre and
class fails, it’s not the filmmaker alone who fails, even as an audience and
film fans we fail. After all, the numbers go down in history to tell what kind
of movies the generation watched. So, come out in large number to watch Padmavat
and give a befitting reply to all those who question the film's plot without even
watching it.
